Nicola Turner
BMus (Hons) MA

Nicola was born in Edinburgh and began playing the clarinet when she was 11. Graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2007, she moved to London where she completed an MA at the Royal Academy of Music.

Nicola has always been a keen orchestral player and has performed regularly with many UK orchestras including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the BBCSSO, the RSNO and the London Contemporary Orchestra.

Always a proactive chamber musician, Nicola is the recent winner of the Nicholas Blake Ensemble prize. She is currently the clarinettist of “Quintet Zambra”, a wind quintet who regularly perform together across the UK as members of Enterprise Music Scotland.

Nicola is thoroughly active in the education system and has over 7 years experience teaching clarinet and saxophone to students of all ages and standards in both solo and group contexts.

  • The scariest thing I have ever done is jump out of a plane at 15000ft…twice!
  • My favourite food is strawberry cheesecake.
  • The next instrument I'd like to learn is the cello. 
  • My two cats are called Basil and Cybil  

Nicola teaches clarinet, saxophone and the Woodwind Ensemble.
