Helen Egan
BMus (Hons)

Helen began learning the violin age 7 and was playing the piano before she could talk! She moved to Edinburgh to study music at Napier University from the tiny village of Pennan in the North east coast of Scotland. She loved Edinburgh so much she moved here permanently and now teaches violin and viola for both City of Edinburgh and Fife Councils. Helen also works as a freelance violinist in and around Edinburgh. She lives in Musselburgh with her husband, baby daughter Freya and Scotty dog Maisi.

  • I started to play the violin when I was 7

  • My favourite children’s book is The Witches by Roald Dahl
  • 3 scoops of ice cream: vanilla, raspberry ripple and chocolate
