Heather North
BMus (Hons) MA
Heather was born in Doncaster, and began playing the flute at the age of seven. In 2001, Heather was accepted to study at the prestigious Chethams School of Music in Manchester, where she continued her education. Two years later, Heather went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and after graduating in 2007, moved to London to continue her Postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music.
Heather is a regular Orchestral and solo performer, and is on extra work lists for the Scottish Ballet and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Heather has also performed Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto with Winchester Symphony Orchestra, and has performed in live productions of Rick Wakeman’s compostion ‘Henry the VIII and his Six Wives’ at Hampton Court Palace which was filmed for DVD.
Heather is a very active chamber musician and is currently the flautist of Quintet Zambra, a wind quintet who performs regularly throughout the UK and are current members of Enterprise Music Scotland. Heather has also been involved in a small contemporary chamber ensemble, alongside solo performers from the London Sinfonietta at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Heather has been teaching the flute for over 7 years to pupils of all ages and abilities, and currently has a 100% pass rate with pupils entered for exams.
