Gillian Dainty studied cello and piano at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and then trained as a string teacher at the Royal Northern College of Music. After her studies she worked for thirteen years as a teacher in Shropshire, firstly as an instrumental teacher and later as Head of Music in a secondary school. She was awarded the MSc in Music Therapy in 2009 and now combines her teaching with work as a music therapist for NHS Borders. She also performs with many local ensembles.
