Drums and Percussion

Drums and Percussion classes are offered to children in Primary 3 and upward. The classes are taught in small groups and aim to establish musical understanding and good habits from the very beginning. Pupils will be expected to practice their instrument for 10-15 minutes at least four times per week. In the first two years, children are taught hand drumming and stick technique, basic rudiments and drum kit up to about grade 1 or 2 level. Although not compulsory, children are encouraged to prepare for and sit the Rockschool grade exams. After one or two years of group lessons, children will be offered individual instruction as they develop more advanced technique. We recommend that all children learning instruments attend one of our choirs and to make it more affordable, we offer a 40% reduction off choirs fees. There will also be opportunities for our drummers to join one of our rock/pop ensembles.
