NEW
Creative Music Class: babies and toddlers
(0 to 18 months and 18 months to 3 years)

Thursday mornings

Babies and toddlers love music, puppets, bouncing and tickling games, rhymes, singing books, simple instruments and time with their carer just having fun. In our baby and toddler classes we combine all of these elements to make varied, fun filled sessions, which introduce all of the the basics of music making.

You will learn games and songs to enjoy with your children as they develop a musical awareness and creativity without knowing that they are learning. We use familiar nursery rhymes and songs along with material developed for the particular age groups. These encourage feeling the beat, listening skills, an awareness of musical events such as sound and silence, fast and slow, loud and soft, high and low etc. Songs learned in the appropriate vocal range for the age group encourage singing at pitch, and pop up puppets make our response songs lots of fun.

These classes are the start of your child's musical journey and progress naturally into the creative music classes at pre-school, P1 and P2 level. From this beginning, instrumental lessons follow in P3.

Meet your teacher Heather Glasspool, and enrol now for Thursday mornings.

Creative Music Class: Primary 2

Saturday

In these classes we will continue to develop basic musical skills in pitch, rhythm and dynamics. Using musical games, songs from all over the world and taking inspiration from many styles of music, children will have direct involvement in making and creating music. Using voice and an array of percussion instruments is part of every session, working individually, in pairs or as part of the group. Children will continue to develop listening skills and performing skills with the instruments available, as well as being encouraged to explore creative possibilities.

As children reach this stage in their musical development it is important that we are sensitive to their musical preferences as they are almost ready to begin learning a musical instrument. This class will introduce the children to an array of musical instruments including all the instruments available in Primary 3. We will be able to advise on the next stage of your child’s musical development.

Meet your teacher Louise, and enrol now for Saturday.

Creative Music Class: Special Needs

Saturday

This class is designed for children who because of their particular special educational needs, find it difficult to cope with a mainstream music class. Throughout their time in the class they will be introduced to music through creative games and activities aimed at developing group skills, turn-taking, listening, motor skills and concentration. The essential building blocks of music: pitch, pulse and rhythm will also be taught. Children will have the opportunity to move on to our mainstream music classes when both teacher and parents feel the child is ready.

Parents and guardians will be expected to accompany their child in the class until s/he feels suitably settled in.

Meet your teacher Clare, and enrol now for Saturday.
