Portobello Music School seeks to awaken and nurture musical interest, expression, and artistic excellence in a friendly, fun and stimulating environment; to offer a high standard of comprehensive music instruction to people of all ages and backgrounds; and to serve the community by teaching in multiple locations, offering a number of bursary places, and sponsoring a programme of formal and informal concerts and public performances throughout the year.

In September 2006, we started our Saturday Morning Music Classes for over 150 children aged between 4 and 8.  Now in our second year, we have expanded our classes to include a whole range of instrumental instruction groups for children in primary 3 and upwards.

In addition to our Saturday morning music classes, we also offer classes to the wider community.  In January 2007, we began our programme of adult classes with our beginner and intermediate West African Drumming Ensembles.  Future classes will include: Gospel Choir, Songwriting, Rock School, Improvisers’ Ensemble and music technology classes.
